With the exception of the rider done in Poser this was completely made with
POV-Ray Megapatch 0.7. Sky is media and it uses radiosity. The combination
of a media sky and area light resulted in a render time of approx. 15 hours
on my 1.3 GHz Pentium 4.

This is really good. How'd you make the rocks? It looks like you textured
them with a spherically mapped image map, judging from the way the closest
rock looks. But how'd you make the shapes?

The radiosity really adds a lot.

A pleasure to the eye! It has good depth of field, colour combination,
textures, light! The sun suggests this is an alien planet (in my opinion)
but that's not a bad thing. The sand- and rock- textures are probably
image_maps, they look great, though the nearest rock to the left is visibly
stretched.

Hugo

Serenity now!!!!!!

Seinfeld fans know...

..anyways: this is absolutely fantastic!

Did you use the same texture for the (big) rocks? Somehow they seen to have
the same texture mapped on it and the big one at the left botton corner has
some kind of star on top. :-)

Very nice. I like it alot.
I was just wondering what dithering technique you plan on using in the final
output? Right away I noticed alot of onion-skinning in the sky and it is a
little distracting.

The dithering technique I use is...

1. In Paint Shop Pro 5.0, decrease color depth to 256 colors,
use optimized median cut, error diffusion (I think that's PSP's answer to a
Floyd-Steinburg dither algorythm), and then reduce color bleeding (no matter
what software you use, Floyd-S is always the bomb).

2. Immediately re-increase color depth back up to 24 bit and save image as
.JPG.

I'm totally in the market for a better way to reduce .TGA onion-skinning,
if you have one, please don't hesitate to share.

Once again, nice work!

P.S. the posted image shows how I dither stuff, sorry if the sun didn't come
out right,
I would tweek that a little. And please don't take offense, I'm only sharing
an idea.

Hmm.. might be your video settings, because it looks smooth as glass to
me (not counting the jpg boxes). Are you talking about color banding? While
the original image shows none, your revision has a lot and is several times
larger in file size.

TGA should give some of the most flawless color blending there is. If it
does not, like I said, it might be your video settings.
