This image is for a website Im designing, about Salt (well, kind of :-)

Overall, Im pleased with the results of this test render, however Im not
satisfied with the salt quite yet, and well, if a salt shaker is turned
upside down, salt should come out, but hey :-)

Any criticism? Comments?

This scene is my first using radiosity (default settings)

I don't know if the inside of the glass looks wierd because of low rad
settings, low photon settings, but it needs a lil work. Also, I don't see
ANY salt but that could be because of the glass artifacts. I'd make the cap
more reflective and give it something to reflect. Perhaps image map a
screenshot of the website onto a plane and let it reflect that? That could
yield some interesting results.

Yes, I and my mother definitely noticed that... thanks!

Same error I saw... Im trying to simplify the salt by defining its shape and
giving it a texture that looks like salt, but the glass is interfering.

the corners are too sharp, they should be rounded slightly.  (I know this is
difficult to do, but it would improve the appearance of the glass quite a
bit)

Good point -- actually not too hard, if I employ the use of bezier
splines... of course figuring out those points will be hard...gotta get back
to work on my spline editor :-)

That might make it a little too round. Just plotting 5 or so mesh points at
each corner would likely give a more realistic shape. Mesh might also
increase your render speed because you wouldn't need to use subtraction to
make the inside hollow.

How would I go about applying interior to a mesh?

As long as the mesh is closed, you can apply interior to it just as you
would any solid object.
