Modelled in hammapatch, UV mapped in uv mapper and image maps created in CorelPaint
curtesy of an anonymous RedKite.
The Post was created in ZBrush using an image as a mask and then inlating the cylinder
to create the form texture is the same image
map.
Sky is media.
I have one major problem with radiosity in this picture the image maps are almost
bright red - yet I get this dull brown has anyone
any advice on this

Wow. I would touch it but it might claw my eyes out. Then I couldn't
raytrace.
Cheers!

Nasty, vicious, tweety bird! But... nice pic.
I feel it should be more "angry" looking, perhaps the eyes a little
higher in the head? I only see the smaller predators close-up around
here in S.Wales' Gower and they always look that way. Kites and
buzzards keep their distance :( Guess you had photos to help you so
you must be right.

It was modelled on a Red Kite but I have to admit not very well! I made the mistake of
starting from my seagull model and the head
is not erect enough. The model works well side on but in this 3/4 view the effect is
not so strong. Actually I think (looking at
the pic again the eye is in the right place but the beak should extend further back!.

Hi Mick,
I think, your rad settings are okay (brightness 3...ts,ts..).
In my opinion it should be the space behind the camera, which perhaps is too
dark.
Beside this the tail feathers are transparent, so they have to appear dark.
The body seems to have a strong normal in the texture definition, which can
contribute to the dark appearance too.
Beside this image is breathtaking as usual.

That is a beautiful image Mick, the texture on the bird is great.

The blue reflected light is illuminating the red surface so it looks dark?

Yes I am aware of that, I was just wondering if there was a way to compensate for it.

Perhaps it is due to the high brightness on radiosity?

Hmmmm... gamma correction?
P.S.: Amazing modelling, as usual.

That is lovely, as usual. The bird looks real enough to fly out of the
picture.
Mountain looks like it's made of crystal and gold. How do you create your
mountains?
