Here is the (maybe) finished sword stand picture. I'm not sure if it's done
or I need to do something else in the image. The idea was to highlight the
sword and dagger (in a black leather sheath) on a wrought-iron sword stand.
The entire mess sitting on a fireplace mantel. I thought about adding
something cloth-like to offset the hardness of the image but I'm not sure.
Any ideas?

I would not have known that the dagger was in a leather sheath had you not
posted a description. The blade just looks like it hasn't had a texture
applied. The sword is nice, but the blue reflecting in the blade makes it
appear that the sky is reflecting. A photograph of the inside of your house
or just a plane with an image map of your bricks would probably make a more
convincing reflection.

That's true. I wanted to make the blade stand out but I think "viewing the
outside on the blade" does look too odd.
I'll have to come up with a better interior.
Thanks!

The coloring on the blade looks very artistic, I like the colors. I believe
that it adds to the scene instead of taking away from it because of realism.
The stone bricks are isosurfaces, no? What if you added a pigment function
on top of them giving them a small grain?

Yes they are isosurfaces. My math skills are poor at best. I felt luckly
to get them to look like that! :)
Here is some of the code I used:
isosurface {
function { f_rounded_box(x,y,z,0,0.70,0.85,0.70) - f_noise3d(x*5.2,
y*4.9, z*4.7)* 0.05 }
contained_by { box { -1 , 1} }
max_gradient 25
pigment {RockColor3 translate <0,-1.8,0>}
scale RockScale
}
If you could explain how that could be added here I will certainly try that.
Thanks!

Sorry I left out the scale I used for the rocks.
#declare RockScale = <0.360,0.1,0.360>;

Excellent! I've been following this. I think you could be right. A 'drape' hanging
behind the sword would look good IMHO. Either
red and yellow or red and black with some kind of FE.Asian text? I have to say that
your sword looks a beast in lambs clothing.
Those two straight bits with the curve on the ends, (near the hilt), are quite
in-humane are they not? Cruelly interesting. Are they
for real? I haven't seen that before myself...
Back to the image... A bevel line would look good also.... straight down the
middle of the blade...
Very nice image.

Perhaps add some focal blur?
Looks very good so far!

Thank you! Once I figure out a cloth method (or someone else posts a clith
include for Povray 3.5) I'll add something in there.
Well I actually own the sword and dagger. I haev tried to model them as
close as I can to the real thing. The "horns" on the hilt
could be a bit dangerous. The sword is very heavy. I didn't add a "blood
channel" down the blade since the real one doesn't have it.

Thank you!
I'm not sure where I would blur the image though. Maybe near the bottom of
the wall?
