Hi there!
After approx. 5h of parsing and 15min. of tracing *gg* the new model is
done. Some adaptions on LOD settings, fixed the "ill" leaves (although they
aren't placed right yet) and some generic cleanup of the macros.
Sorry for the non-radiosity version again. The new settings "shrinked" the
include to 89MB (it was 116MB) whereas most of the LOD settings provide more
details than necessary (doesn't matter overnight). :-)
Maybe the leaves are a bit too shiny? What dou you think? (I can't take my
fern at home anymore as model since it has a completely different colour
which all of you meant it looks dead :-) )
regards
SY
BTW: in few month's I should be able to post my new plant. Will be
interesting if you can recognise it *lol*

I think that there is too much contrast between the healthy and ill leaves.
This might be correct in RL, however.

I also noticed that. It was striking the difference between both colors.
Also, I think the leaves look too smooth. Perhaps adding some slight
perturbations with a normal pattern may help?
As always, good work!
Fernando.

Ah yeah! I guess you're both right. Thanks for that. The yellowish colour is
still the one I used for the light-green fern. It doesn't match the darker
colour now. I got already blind on things like this.

Indeed. Strangely there IS a perturbation in the normals AND some "nervous"
normal pattern. But obviously still far too smooth....
Currently the leaves look more like gree silk *g*

Oh, thanks a lot. I'm, crawling along while hoping to get to some end .-)

I was babysitting 4 kids this past weekend and the fmaily had one of
these ferns. It struck me that your fern is VERY good. the death rate,
the scattered brown leaves on the floor, everything is really very close
to the real thing. the only thing I notice in this last picture is that
your leaves are glossy, and the real ones were kid of dull, but then,
since I'm only comparing it to one plant, it could be that a well
watered fern is actually glossy... I don't know.
Great job though.

Wow. THAT's a job .-)

Thanks a lot. I think the model is getting closer and closer. Just texturing
isn't right....

Exactly. I never get it right. Either it looks like dry dust or it is glossy
like green silk.
Maybe I should make it simply white and ask the experts here for texturing
*lol*

No, I'm sure that you are right. It IS too glossy. I will decrease it bit by
bit. At some point it should look right.
I think tha problem is, that (due to time reasons) I adjust the texture on a
single leaf. Once satisfied I apply it to the complete fern but then it
doesn't look right.

Thank you very much.
Best regards
