After a long time of inactivity back to my kitchen project with this simple oven.
Not much to say: pretty simple csg.
One funny note: in all my test renders the second half of the image was much slower
than the first one, due to the glass door (glass in texture_maps seems pretty slow).
But in the final render the first half took 11h 30m. Then I stopped the render. I
resumed it this morning and the second half took 1h 20m...
Jonathan, repeat after me: "always reboot POV-Ray after saving radiosity data...".

It's been a long time JRG, nice to see you again.
I had the same (or very close) kitchen when I was a child.
Where did you find this photograph?.
Talking seriously, it's the best kitchen I've seen in my life,
superb modelling, texturing and lightning.
Fantastic work. Keep it up (pleaseeeee)
Bye

That is damn nice. Do you have a lighting tutorial anywhere online?

I also was in doubt somewhat, but there is some dirt on the upper
white surface, whereas the burners are spotless and reflective
and clearly have not been used yet. That and the fact that you can
see through the glass makes me _assume_ that this may indeed have
been rendered.
JRG, what are you using as a modeller? I think it would have
taken a couple of weeks to generate all the objects, and some
more to get the textures even remotely as good as yours.
But then I mostly place all objects by hand (with a little help
from Matlab ofcourse).

That is SO great! :o) I'm glad you're back. I expected a great object and
was not disappointed. I just didn't fully understand your point in the
"saving radiosity" sentence.

Hugo

WOW! thats amazing! Both the textures and the modelling are top notch. Was
this all done in the SDL or did you use an external modeller? Also how did
you light the scene? It looks like global illumination (at least I think
thats the term I mean)

My fault. The original ones are now completely black... :-)

None.

I started it on Sunday. It took me one day and half to model and texture.
Cheers,
