I'm a newbie to pov-ray, but am very excited at the possibilities pov-ray
offers!!!
A friend named Flaming Monarch (already posted in group) and I are working
through pov-ray, learning as much as we can.
This was an image I created in about 6 hours (most of the time spent on
getting image_map to work the way I wanted it), and I am pleased with the
result!
Any criticism, whether positive or negative would be accepted!

it seams darts are also quite common objects to stat with POV ...
I did one, when I started, but I can't find it anymore ..
maybe make the metal reflective, and give it some environment to reflect ?
...
I'm sure, about the tail .. are the flaps supposed, not to be perpendicular
?
otherwise: fine modeling and nice perspective ...
Add some focal blur now ...

Makes me feel better :-)

Interesting idea! I plan on eventually including this object in my office
scene (WIP), which would provide the needed environment.

On these darts, yes the flaps are supposed to be slightly off perpendicular.

Again, an interesting idea... ill try it soon
Thanx!!!

Another thing, maybe worth a try, is to use extrem FB and set the focal
point
in such a manner, that the reflected objects are sharp ... you know what I
mean ?

no probs, but:
I'm not sure 'bout "amazing" ...
especially in the current perspective, you would blur the dart itself a
lot, so you could merely see it any longer ... but as I said, worth a try
...

Nice image, but the metal textures need some work, and the flighte should
be semi-transparent.
I can just imagine the Canadian camera man standing infront of the dart
board saying, "throw it now, I'll try to take a snap and move out of the
way in the split second that it takes to travel from your hand to the
dart board":-))

Needs slight softening of the edges on the "grip."

How would you recommend I go about working on the metal texture?

Hmm... the dart I modeled dosen't seem to be partially transparent... are
most darts that way?
Thanks for the input!
