Here is the entire alphabet build with CSG, it is all cylinders, spheres 
and toruses. It differs from the text object in that it is real 3d.
I started working on this three years ago to render greeting cards to 
family and friends. I also render project logo's and animations with these, 
simple but eye-catching.
If there is interest, I'll publish the source.

Only if you see #declare as a macro. Have a look at the sources in 
p.b.scene-files.

Have you checked chars.inc in the distribution? It's been around since
POV 2.0 IIRC.

Good point, I probably started with chars.inc back in 1999 and forgot all 
about it later. I like the characters Ken Maeno made but the round 
characters I created also look good.
I should have posted with the subject "more chars.inc" :-).
