I am pretty happy with how these came out. Note the interior detail.
The sharp eyed will also spot that the shadows give the fake image away. I
used a standard IOR statement, not photons.
Cheers!

It would be nice if there were an easy way to have POV consider a
transparent object to be opaque for shadows...it would actually be more
realistic for this kind of thing.
Maybe I should dig out my schematic include again...

nice modeling.
Try:
object {Resin_Part pigment {Your_Pigment} no_shadow}
object {Resin_Part pigment {rgb 1} no_image}

You can try photons, or if you don't want to delve into that, try caustics.
You may also want to play with fade_distance and fade_power.

"ZSpider"? Are you the "Spider" that used to hang out on these groups?
I posted about it about a year ago:
http://news.povray.org/povray.binaries.images/13598/
But it seems I never posted the actual include. It might need some
updating for POV 3.5...I'll have to go dig it up.

i've been posting off and on for about 3 years, chris, but i've
either been zspider or miker. if the guy you are thinking about
was knowledgable, then i definitely wasn't him. hahaha. thanks
for looking for your schematic include file. mostly i think of
silicon stuff nowadays, but now i remember somebody a while
ago had a very nice render of some old time tubes.
thanks, miker

Nice - but don't forget a "D-ring" at case base or different lead
lengths for a key.

The ring is there, but you are right- I need to flatten one face. The
lead thing I will fix right away!
Cheers!
