This is my first image posted to the group.  I have been playing around
with common items and trying to get some simple renderings that are at least
convincing.  Here are some spools of wire that came out okay.

Hi Chip,

I like the way you used a tori to get the nice curve on the inside of the
hole of the spool. Its these little details which can really add a lot of
realism to an image.

Try using some area lights to soften the shadows and some different lighting
(or radiosity) to get some detail into those shadowed areas where there are
some serious colour blocks.
