Hi

I've just brought all the elements of my IRTC entry together and the scene
doesn't seem right somehow. Can someone suggest some 'quick' fix to make it
look a little less benign. (theres only 4 hours left...)

Thanks in advance
Jim

What's the theme? (btw the person/boat seems too small)

Well, I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "benign", but the whole thing
looks kind of washed out right now. I think if you lower your ambient light
value and make your light source brighter and yellower, it would add a lot
to the scene (unless you were going for kind of an overcast look). Also,
there's something a little strange about your clouds and horizon. Maybe a
little bit of fog to soften the horizon line would help, and possibly scale
your clouds smaller on the Y axis. Is your sky maybe a little too purple?
Just suggestions. Hope that helps.

Stephen

Everything seems too bright and evenly lit, like you have a high
ambient. The rust should be darker brown, and it looks heavily overcast,
like it should be much darker.
Also, the waves are more consistent with a small lake, they would be
quite choppy with a storm like that. The water looks too green, it
should be more of a gray. And much of the structure looks
unnecessary...why that big pipe going out the side?

It needs a tentacle, a shark fin, or a pair of eyeballs coming up from the water...
alternately, a large monster-shaped dark object under the water's surface would work
too.

Well I agree with some of the others about perhaps adding something in the
water to give the scene some tension or something, also the pipes are too
red. However you might also want to play around with your
lighting/gamma/radiosity settings. Here is an autocontrast corrected version
I whiped up in photoshop I think it is a big improvement.

Lower your camera angle slightly and add some fog to get rid of that harsh
horizon line. Might want to increase the contrast or intensity of the light
slightly (though if you add fog so it washes the horizon out, it will give
the scene a completely new look... in which case you should probably keep
the lighting subtle to suit the hazed effect).

Just my 2 cents.

Lance.

Thanks to all who replied - I decided to go for the dark n' hazy look.
I reduced the ambient light to zero, added some radiosity and some fog on
the horizon so hopefully it looks like one of those mid-afternoon
calm-before-the-storm things. hopefully.

Thanks
Jim

Hmm, looks much like it could be something out of Riven. :)
