the headline is only a joke.
this scene should show balls coming from the net which was hanging on the
ceiling some seconds ago. it is a test for vlength(). i would know how to
make the spotlights brighter. till now i tried to modify values for
fade_distance, with no really good results.

I use lights like:
#declare Pos = <10, 10, -10>
#declare Amplitude = 15;
#declare Size1 = 2;
#declare Size2 = 3;
light_source { Pos
<1,1,1> * Amplitude
area_light Size1 Size2, 4, 4
fade_power 2
fade_distance sqrt(Size1*Size2)
}
and control the brightness with the Amplitude. This seems to be a common way
to do it.

am i right if this would mean:
area_light <2,2,2>, <3,3,3>, 4, 4 ?

Yes and that would be a funny thing to do..
area_light x*Size1, y*Size2, 4, 4 sounds better.
