Hi
Some time ago I saw a scene rendered with Brazil (original by Alejandro
Gonzalez) and tried to do the same with MegaPov. Now I converted it to
Pov3.5 and noticed how much the radiosity in MegaPov and Pov3.5 differ. They
are actually so different that I had to start from the default rad settings
and after a million test I've got this far.
Reflections too bright? More count, but what else? Any suggestions?
Nice replication. The Brazil render has more then three spheres. You can
see a fourth reflected in the blue sphere. It looks as though there is a
blue light source coming from the left as well. That might lighten up the
shadows in the center in addition to a higher count. I do like the higher
contrast of your picture though.

Thanks. Look closer :)

Hmm.. I'm not sure if I want to add lights to the scene. I'll see what it
looks like.

Ah I see it now. If you dim the reflections though you might lose the
reflection of that off camera sphere entirely. Perhaps more diffuse
lighting and less from the main light source?

I haven't seen the original image, but you might try using variable
reflection for the balls; I think it would be more realistic than the
mirror-like reflection they exhibit at present.

I increased the diffuse values and redused the ambient value of the sky and
it looks better. Thanks for the tip.

That's true, but the render time goes through the roof with variable
reflections. After 11 hours still in pretrace stage.. :-(
