OK, the model is awful, but it's just temporary. This scene has nothing to
do with the final scene (if there'll be any...). I just wanted to play with
a banana material (made in a hurry). As you can see it suffers the same
problem seen in Gilles' posts about subsurface scattering, i.e. dark spots
being projected through the fruit.
BTW I found the result interesting, so I've decided to post it anyway.

Hmmm, very nice yet something nags at me which I can't quie pick out.
Perhaps the banana shapes are a bit off, maybe should be a bit sharper at
the the corners (as bananas aren't really cylindrical) and the bottom one
feels a bit too pointy at the end. The texture is very good but maybe the
spots a bit too small and seem to smear towards the left. Add some grout as
well, the tiles seem to be floating.
Sorry if I seem a bit too critical on what is an excellent image so far.

Remember that the texture of the banana in real life is not continuous. The
meat of the fruit has totally different properties from the surface. At the
very least, you can't use the same density for the while volume and expect
it to look right. Capito?

Hmmm ... I think the texture would fit to potatoes, if you would decrease the
saturation a bit ...

As I said the model is temporary. It's my first try with Amapi, but I think
I'll stick with Hamapatch because Amapi is really buggy and makes me quickly
get angry...

Well, I used a real model as reference.... until I ate it and had no more
models :-P
That smearing is due to the scattering medium in the bananas.

Ok, next time I will try to add some thickness to the skin, or perhaps to
model an opened fruit... but I don't know if the model is worth it... maybe
I can go for a still life.

Looks good, the dark spots of the bananas should IMO be a bit darker. It
must have been quite slow with area_light, radiosity, reflection and
media...
