Hi all,
Well here is my latest WIP. Actually, all I seem to post is WIPs, but I am
going to finish this one. Ok, it doesn't look much so far. just a ridged
multifractal, some fog and a sky_sphere with a touch of radiosity. Just
wondered what people thought of the environment so far.

Very nice so far. When you say a ridged multifractal, what exactly do
you mean?

Nice, although unspectacular somehow ;-)
What's the small scale normal on the terrain?
I think slightly higher contrast which would make the dunes' geometry more
visible would be good. Right now it's hardly visible where the light
comes from.

Thanks.
Ridged multifractal is one of the inbuilt functions provided in Pov 3.5 and
is particularly suited to mountains, dunes and so forth when used in an
isosurface.

Thanks. Hopefully the unspectacular part should change in time :-)

Just a smaller scaled copy of the same rmf
function {
f_ridged_mf(x,y,z,0.6,1.2,2,0.95,10,0)
}

You should be able to tell a bit better when I add the rest of the stuff, I
think I'll stay with the washed out look as I think it suits this image but
I know what you mean, hopefully the other objects will provide the contrast.

Looks good.
the sand has too much texture, it's not so bad up close, but as distance
makes it smaller, the sand looks weird. I'm comparing this to sand
dunes, which don't have a lot of feature, just shadows to show the rise
and fall.
