So I show another example with subsurface scattering.
There are many objects, which look like plastic when rendered.
slice.
I added interior components to the different parts of the slice and tweaked
the textures a bit.
Shown are two lemon slices with and without subsurface scattering (not very
good, only a quick hack).
things with high water content like leaves, food, ketchup, blood, cremes or
any kind of translucent slime can benefit from subsurface scattering (not to
forget milky glass or thin chinese porcelaine...).
