Here is the HP 12C calculator model I'm working on. It's my first attempt at
radiosity and second at area lights.

I can notice some broken lines and I think it's because of bad anti -
aliasing settings (I used the default ones and the method 2, but none of
them helped). Can anyone tell me a good AA setting for this kind of image?

Oh, comments, critics and suggestions are welcome too. : )

Looks like an accurate depiction. However, the finish on the calculator
surface (especially the buttons) is way too flat. You need to get some kind
of highlights and shading that separates the buttons from the surface.

Whenever fine lines are present you'll need to increase the sampling array
from the default 3 by 3.
+r4 or +r5 (Antialias_Depth=4 for ini file) might do okay and it would
probably be a good idea to lower jitter too; something like +j0.2
(Jitter_Amount=0.2 for ini).

You didn't say if those were image mapped or not; if so, you'd be needing
high resolution source files and maybe *not* use interpolate. Depends.

Thanks, I'll try.

No, the only image_map used is the wood plane.

Looking at the real version on my desk, the surface and buttons appear to be
made of the same material.
But I think adding some phong highlights will help a little to separate
them.

Thanks

Try method 2, threshold 0.1 (or less, but that should suffice) and
recursion 3.

Muito legal, dude, keep it up.

One thing: from what I recall from my old 12C, there is an HP logo on the
top left corner. Have they taken it out of the newer ones (mine was from the
late 80's, so I could be outdated on this one).

Also, I think the black surface is a bit more rugged.

Anyway, nice image.

Yes, it's my fault, I forgot to put the HP logo there. Thanks for remind me.

That's a well-built calculator. Unlike TI's cheap plastic and rubber
carbon-contact buttons.

The calculator it's not mine and I just use it to do the basic operations,
since I don't need at all the financial functions.
But still, it's a great calculator to have and it seems made to last for
many years (it comes with a leather case too : )
