This took me less than a half hour to do, and I sorta like how it came out.
The original render is 1280x1024 for my desktop (it took 47m 22s to render
on my P2-400), but I shrank it down by half for all your viewing pleasure
:-)
I really can't say what my inspiration for this was...I just felt like doing
something ;-)
Enjoy!

Nice image, thanks. It shows how simple an abstract can be, I always think
of them as being to complicated to approach.

Welcome :-)
I was actually planning something much more grand from the beginning. Then
I started experimenting with some MegaPOV glows. Then I threw some
multicolored lights in (same color as the glows, of course).
The ring never originally had spheres on it, but I thought the scene looked
empty, so I added them in.
Abstracts are fun...I think I'll do more. Glad ya like it :-)

Source is available at moray.binaries (MDL file) and p.b.s-f (ZIP'ed POV
source).
