Hi:

Here is a 3.5 translated and enhanced version of the splash image. I
thought that having a 3.1 scene as splash for the 3.5 version was rather
retrograde. Translation was easy: change #version 3.1 to 3.5. :) But I
also "enhanced" it by replacing the old tricks with the new features:

+ Water texture uses now variable reflection and interior fade
+ The tricky underwater fog is replaced with scattering media
+ Removed the "camera-mounted" light and used evenly distributed
    lights on the sky

All the other differences must come from different behavior on 3.5
(like noise generator). I still need to adapt the gradient for the wet
zone on the rocks, but what do you think? Do you like it better than the
current splash? Or perhaps I lost the original "spirit"?

It looked more realistic befor, IMHO. Maybe some radiosity can fix that? :)

The colour of the rocks are wrong. Previously it was more yellowish now it
looks like 'prawn pink'.

I prefer this new version. The rocks look almost quartz-like now, whereas
before they looked plastic-like, not wet.

Well I prefer the new one - perhaps very slightly tone down the pink and add
some lichen to the rocks. Water is much, much better.

Is your new scene file available? I would love to see that rendered
1280x1024 for wallpaper. It looks much mroe realistic than the original.

I think the water looks much better, but in the lower left hand
corner the water level on 2 of the rocks is very dark.

I never saw the previous version but I must say I like this one :) I'll have
to grab 3.5 very soon, I think :)

I've compared the two versions closely, and I definitely prefer the old
version.

In the new version the stones look completely dry IMO, while they had that
wonderful realistic wet look in the old version. Also, the water looks fake
in the new version compared to the old. Things below the surface of the
water are much more clear in the new version (not good) and it's more
difficult to see where the surface of the water actually is.
