A glass sphere on a wood table with photons and focal blur.
The first image was rendered in MegaPOV 0.7 - 11m 39s (1m 5s photons, 10m
34s trace)
The second in POVRay 3.5b1 - 10m 5s (1s parse, 47s photons, 9m 17s trace)
Both scenes are virtually identical (syntax excepted), any comments?

Looks nice, but your wood texture looks different.

i've noticed the same things.. pov 3.5 images seem a lot darker than
MegaPov's with the same options..
it just shows the mega pov and pov 3.5 are two different monsters

It might be related to a different default gamma correction.

I have gamma set to 2.5 in the global statements of both scene files.
Unless gamma gets changed somewhere else.

I don't know about POV 3.1, but POV 3.5 does not set a display_gamma value
in the povray.ini file.
