I have a copy of the original on my hard drive...it still looks great,
despite the advancements that have been made. I had it for a desktop
image for a while, but not any more...it is too small to use that way at
1600*1200.
Is this a from-scratch remake, or a modification of the original? If it
is a true remake, it is amazingly close...

I rendered in resolution 4664*3498 :) Let me know if you want to have it.

All textures were completely redone in Illustrator. Therefore they
look very smooth.

Does your set really have 15 pieces?! Mine only have 7, and I roamed
the Sverdlovsk flea markets for a whole day before I could find it.

traditional ones were quite hard to find.

Ah, those were the times...

Back on topic, how did you get the image maps? They are so lively!

I saw even more :)

This is my own design created in Illustrator. That gives ability to
render the image in absolutely any resolution.

This reminds me of what I want to buy for my 3yr old neice. I love this
image.

Did you still have the original code and image maps to work from or did
you start again from scratch?

Yes, I used my old source code for objects. Also I used old image maps as a
templates
in Illustrator. I created vector image maps using those templates, which you
can save
in any resolution. It gives you that smoothness which you can reach even in
high resolution
rendering.
