Here is something I put together based on some research I was doing on
19th Century technology. The voltaic pile battery used a stack of copper
and zinc disks separated by disks of paper soaked in seawater. I know
they really didn't have the bakelite used on the switch back then, but I
wanted a little variety in the materials. Rendered with POV-Ray 3.5.

Not to mention the bulb. ;) But the focus here is the pile and I'm liking how
that came off.
