So, after 5.5 days of tracing (with subsequent reboots to flush
the RAM), the image is ready. As the deadline is in just
a few days, I won't be able to make any significant changes.

One question though: I don't know if imprint of my signature on the
lower righthand corner is big enough. Anyone think I should
make it larger, or is it just fine (imagine the image printed with a
size of 18x24 cm or such, DIN A4 to be precise)?

So, comments and all very welcome, I'll keep them in mind for future
images, I won't change anything anymore on this one.

And thanks for all the help I got from the newsgroups!

Some more notes:

Photons (spacing .0005) were saved: 488 MB
-Using Dispersion or lower spacing "fragged" the RAM

Radiosity was saved: 7.83 MB

Peak memory used: 526 MB
Tracing time around 5 days = 120 hours

Image-File is 21.9 MB large.

Beautiful pic! I've thought of making prints of some of my Pov-Ray pics now
and then, just haven't created one that feels Poster friendly yet. Where are
you having this one printed. Is it for yourself?

My god! I can't think of many scenes for which these settings wouldn't be
way overkill. And especially sonsidering the Photons in this picture are a
very subtle feature.

Not bad considering the size and settings.

Wohoo!:-)

Well, the size is not the size of the post, its actually
3200x2400, so I can use 300dpi for the print.

I want to print it on a 600dpi Colorlaserprinter, but
I'm not too sure, if that'll work, so it'll probably be
a 300dpi Colorprinter.
Its not for me, its a gift for close friend.

And regarding the photons: overkill? Perhaps. But when
tracing in such an "overkill" size, and assuming that the
print will have an "overkill" dpi, I wanted to make sure to
get the most realism out of the image as I can get. Sure
needs patience for that...

This is a truly fantastic image. IMHO, it will make you a serious
contender for the top position.

Cheers!

Only thing i have to say is change the color of the signature. I can't read
it.

I wouldn't mind seeing a high quality version of this at full res (because I
like to go "ooooooooh" at things).

But maybe that's just me.
