Junkety junk junk junk. I can't think of what I'm really wanting it
to look like, in my head...one of those things you see just out ot
the corner of your mind's eye, and it vanishes when you turn to look
at it. General clutter inspired by the D0 and CHL plant at Fermilab.
Should be even more cluttered. *grumble* Render time 07:46:00.
Why so long? All of the surfaces have blurred reflections.

I really like the metal bridges! Just the big cylinders are so smooth, one
could be confused of the scale and think the man in the bottle is a
miniature.. The bridges save it! And blurred reflection? It's not very
visible, I think.. And shadows would probably be softer in this enviroment..

That was the technical side of things. The idea / theme has potential.. I
know the feeling of being stuck / missing fantasy.. But I would say, this
could be either a laboratory generating aliens / men / women. In that case,
more attention should be made on the green bottle since this is the "end
product" of the whole room.. Or it's a cargo room and some person beams in /
out.

My blah blah blah. :o)

Hugo

Cool start. Needs more detail of course. If I were making this picture, I
would increase the height of the canisters in order to surround the man more
and light the scene with a spotlight on the man. I would also build a
ceiling structure out of view of the camera to reflect in the objects below.

I like this idea very much, and with all of the recent spaceship pictures
and discussion around here, I won't be able to resist trying it myself much
longer.

Very nice idea. What would really enhance it is to add some ports, like
cryovac stuff often has. A couple of those tanks should have right angles short
cylinders intersecting them and a plate bolted on with a viewport. Oh, I know
what just struck me about it- how do you get in or out of the clear cylinder?
It should have an access point of some sort.
My inspiration for this sort of stuff is the old high powered defense lasers
I used to.... er, never mind. Just imagine CO2 with a couple of kilowatts (like
the AVCO types) or the old deuterium flouride systems. You get my drift.
The deckplate is great. The center looks like it might be onion pattern and
radial. Oh, and now I see what is odd- the pipes that intersect the tanks just
run right into them with no couplings. There could be at least a manifold block
of some sort. That would increase the realism at least 50% over leading brands
of simulated cloning/teleporting devices, heh heh.

Cheers!

Ack, completely forgot about area lights. The mannequin in the
liquid-filled chamber is just a placeholder until I can re-figure
out how to import those darn Poser figures into Moray...it's
supposed to be a girl. The blurred reflections are something
like 0.1 reflectivity, blurred, so basically don't show up at
all.

This image is a significant rework of the image posted in
message "2001-07-15_Genomap.jpg [61 kb]" posted by myself
on 03 Oct 2001. That image is probably closer to what I
had in mind, but wanted to change around some of the concept
a little. (Image intended to be illustration for short bit

I want to add more whatsits and such, to increase the realism...but
I'd have to spend more time examining the photo of the CHL plant at
Fermilab to decide where to put pipes and valves.

Observe thou the metal wheel which spins, thereby allowing the portal
upon the top of the chamber to be opened, thusly.

The centre is, in fact, discreet cylinder differences, posessing the
same texture as the rest of the plating.

I was thinking the same thing, but don't know what the coupling
should look like...

Yeah, but I keep forgetting how to set up the paths every time
I reinstall a new beta of POV, so Moray and/or POV freezes when
trying to read the bloody thing.
