...based on an approach by Vahur Krouverk for fake lightsourced clouds.

I thought I'd share this even though it's not very big and only backed
up by very messy code. Also, it is slower than media and not really as
pretty - I think I'm on to something here. It is a pigment done with
functions (no normals or displacements) applied to a large sky dome. (I
am _very_ grateful for the inclusion of functions in POV 3.5 and look
forward some day to a full shading language).

Would you provide a link to this reference?
The clouds look good in this small pic. Is this really slower than media?

These look very realistic...they are completely 2D? If so, they are
definitely the best 2D clouds I have ever seen.

See the "fake clouds #2" example (somewhere in the middle of the page).
His code is in Renderman shading language, while I was trying to see if
anything was possible in POV 3.5.

Well, I suppose it not really an honest comparison, simply because I am
not sure how you actually would approach a comparison - there are so
many ways of accomplishing a thing. However, compared with my general
media experiences, I'd say it's hardly faster.

Thanks!
They are 2D.
