So here I am again, with some adjustments and additions
made to the image. Hope you like it.
Some notes: The lightsource will at some point be attached to
the base of the bowl, that's what the cable is for (which
will also get a switch).
The background is by no means the final, it's just a very
simple setup to see the reflections and refractions from the
glassbowl.
Comments, suggestions and criticism welcome!

Those mini clouds are really incredible. I'm guessing they're media.
This will be a cool still, but an animation would be amazing! What would be
really cool is if the land mass moved as if the ball were just a window
looking into one static point on a spinning globe.

And KAPANG! You're wrong! There are 51 discs in the image,
and one of them is used for the heightfield... ;)

Tracing for the image didn't take too long, but the shadows of the clouds
don't look too good. Using arealights takes care of that, but also of the
tracing time (a test took 12 hours on 1.4 GHZ!)

In case anyone is interested:
I've created a Section entitled "Major WIP" on my homepage, where
you'll find the most recent images of my WIPs. Since RL has some
major issues lately, there's only one image, and it doesn't have to do
with my particle-system. :-(
But its gonna be an IRTC-Entry, so finally I may get around to enter
something and perhaps have the luck to actually get some honourable
mention... :-)
You may still comment and suggest, of course!
