So, after various comments, I worked a little more on the image, and
this is
the final version. You may comment again, of course!

Due to the file-size (9 MB mesh for the woman, 100 KB for heightfield)
I won't post it here, nor on my homepage
(www.digitaltwilight.de/no_lights/index.htm),
but you may find a high-res (1024x512, JPG, near-lossless compression
factor of 1)
there. Though this one is smaller in filesize, I don't think it has any
loss in quality.

The sky was now created with the planes-stacking technique using 20
planes.
I've lowered her buttocks a bit into the water (as mentioned by
someone), but
I didn't change the texture of the heart too much. After all, she is
made of something
near metal, whereas the heart is supposed to be something fragile, like
glass, and
thus is transparent. I made it a little rounder though, and a deeper red
for contrast.

Hope you all like it,

Tim

Uups, that should have been "Her hand is filled!". Ah, well.

I like the improvements you made. Especially the clouds
look very good to me. Only the bright horizon looks kind
of strange imo. I would make it darker or alternatively use
some kind of setting sun.

Thanks!

Takes longer tracing time as well!

I sort of like the glow, although it's not too realistic. Perhaps I'll
darken it just a touch...

Okay, I darkened the horizon, but don't think I need to post that one
again. If
you still want to see it's final staege, look at
www,digitaltwilight.de/no_lights/index.html
and you'll find it within the gallery.

Just now I'm rendering a version with 80 planes (since there were some jagged
lines due
to the "slicing" technique of this) and I'll post that one on my homepage ASAP.

Ouch. What did you use: max_trace_level 81?

I asked just because it happened to me to use a perfect trace_level for the sky, but
not for the sea reflecting the sky, so after hours of rendering I got a mere piece of
s*** :)

I got that one during the initial few rows (max_trace was too low for the planes), so
I've
spotted the error early on. It's now set to 256, which should be sufficient for all
reflections taking
place on woman and ocean.

Does anyone know why the max_trace has been limited to 256? No big room for hundreds
of
planes there...

Oh, another thing. The REAL final render uses 70 planes spread of 400 POV-Units worth
of
height
and definetely look good!

And tracing is not too bad either: Finishes in roughly 40 mins on a 1.4 GHZ Athlon
with
512 MB RAM...
(That was my personal present for me from myself for christmas)

Tim
