Well, I took advantage of my parent's faster computer this christmas,
and tried my hand at a bit of fur.  It looks, well, sort-of like fur, in
my opinion.  Unfortunately jpeg messed it up a bit, and it looks more
convincing at higher res...

Anyway, I'll post a better version if I get round to it.

I had the same thought (btw I think you mean single-wavelength -
spectrometer would be a graph!)

Working on it now.  Could take a little while to get right though.

I thought it kinda looked like a furry basketball. . .  (with the dark lines
running through it and all...)
