Just experimenting a bit with an idea I
got earlier today.

In this iso-surface there are 4 rings that
are "blobbed" together.

I tried to lower the quality of the
radiosity settings in order to get to see
the result today.

Sorry for not having the patience to find
new textures, colors and lights for this
scene.

Rendering time at my 100 MHz Pentium PC:

3 hours and 43 minutes

To Buke:

Thanks you very much for your offer to do
renderings for me.

Your 1.2 GHz PC seems to render 10 times
faster than mine !

Would you mind rendering a larger/better
version of this shape for me ?

Just send me the source.
I might have to do it on my PIII 600 laptop if I don't get it in time I'm on
the road abit these days.
That's ok too.

Nice, maybe try some additional fine noise.

Nice cuboctahedron, Tor! ;)

It looks kinda eroded, that plus the square cross section plus the weld-like
bulges make it look like a manmade relic. A seafaring manmade relic. And it
just so happens I started FFIX not too long ago. And the first part takes
place on a ship part of the time... an airship though. Funny how in videogames
airships are the same as water ships but they float in air. Oh well, eroded
wood and metal looks a lot better than polished aluminum any day.
