Nice piece of art. Not sure about that title though. I had to wonder a
little about the red hair on the "ancient mariner". Maybe a tanner color
for the face and grey for the hair would be better?
Anyway, you're banned from posting here for a few weeks in order to keep
other peoples morale from dropping.

Fantastic! Has a moody feel to it. Makes you wonder what thoughts are
going through his head. Past adventures? A lost love one?
I can't wait to see how it evolvs. keep up the good work.

Mick:
I just thought of something for the grass. The texture, as it stands now,
seems too uniform. Instead, try this: make each stem fade from green to
yellow or lightish green along it's length. Also, randomize the diffuse
amounts for the entire plant. And radomizing how high the plants are may
be a good idea, too.
Another idea: Make some more areas of shadows on the mariner, or lower the
ambient.
Good work so far, keep it up!

On my monitor the Mariner is almost in silloette. I like it the
way it is but perhaps if I turned up the brightness to max it
would be a different story.

hi Ken
Thanks fot the thumbs up!
He is meant to be almost a silhouette but I'm going to modify him so he is
wearing a victorian style cloak which is blowing slightly in the wind.

I like this - one of those pictures where the title is part of the picture,
giving it it's context. Howabout an old and faded wedding-invite, half
buried by sand?

It's really becoming more and more impressive, but i wonder about the strong
shadows of the grass on the ground while the sun seems behind the clouds.

I don't claim to look at everything that's posted here very carefully,
but this strikes me as extraordinary good: it has lots of atmosphere and
shows a beautiful light. Catching...

I think it looks very good for the most part, but basically to reiterate
what others said, the grass probably wouldn't have such defined shadows
when the sun is just emerging from clouds (or retracting-am i an
optimist?), and the mariner looks 2D to me; solid colors, not much
detail at that distance. Maybe some very soft highlight right on the
edge of his coat?

I don't think Ancient Mariner was invited to that wedding, he was only there
to tell Wedding Guest his story. Anyway the albatross should look much more
dead... half buried by sand?
Very good picture. The figure seems to have that same problem that the
grass had before H.E. suggested double illumination. I know nothing about
double illumination but maybe it's worth trying?
