They look like clumps of cells or organic matter - how would these aunty
blobs works for molecular models?

Maybe I was a little bit unclear about that:

It really is 8 blobs in that image, but each of the 8 blobs
consists of one component with positive strength and
several other components with negative strength.

Ahh ... good idea !

I have posted it to:

Hmmm ... interesting idea ... I'll have to muse over this a little bit.

Maybe something like this could be done with a modified version
of my macro ...

... but I'm not quite sure how a cell looks like when it is about to
divide into two cells.

Is it like a "normal" blob with two sphere components ?

Do you (or anyone else in here) know ?

(But I don't think I would have the patience to model the
complete evolution of a monster with POV-script ! ;)

Thank you for commenting.

I thought I would try to give them an organic texture, but I don't
know how to do that, so I chose a stone texture instead.

Aunty ?

I'm not sure what kind of molecular models you would like.

Do you have any other images or drawings of such models ?

Do you mean that I'm very close to a dividing cell ?

If so: Is it the image I posted, or is it my suggestion
to use a "normal" two-component blob that is close ?

Thanks for commenting

Don't understand this.

When You travel by car, You can let Your notebook
render all the time, and at each stop, You look at
the pictures and make the next steps.

Hehe ...

But how did you know that I were travelling by car and
that I'm carrying a notebook with me ???

The first days I got so bored when I was sitting on the
ferry (or waiting for it) that I started up POV-Ray and
did some renderings.

But the laptop's LCD is quite bad for viewing the
results, so I became quite frustrated when I couldn't
see clearly the details I wanted to examine in the image.

Therefore I don't render in the car anymore. But I
often think about ideas I have (like these antiblobs)
when I'm travelling.

I have also found that I don't like to render when I'm
feeling alone (like in the car which also is an "off-line
place").

Being online and reading these POV-news groups
inspires me a lot when I'm POV-ing.

Wow that's multi-tasking.

The solution's simple, d/l the newsgroups so that you can read
them off line, and get petrol generator so that you can plug
a standard monitor in and use it with you'r notebook, presumably
you have something that allows you to plug the notebook into
the car's cigarette lighter (to allow you to do renders that take
more than on hour).

I have no idea why, but my first impression upon seeing the first image
was "Rocky Mountain Oysters". Go figure. The second image looks a lot
like some of those molecule models you see in chem labs in school.
