I'm afraid that I don't know enough yet about colouring glass in
POV-Ray like you describe.

Thank you.
I first tried to view the shape from this angle as a non transparent
object,
but I found it a bit dull because the shape in front "blocked" for the
three
others behind.
And then I thought I'd give the marvellous T_Glass3 texture from the
glass.inc file a try.

I did give this a little thought before I went to sleep. But I was
to tired to reach a conclusion, so I just started the rendering and
thought I would make up my mind when it had finished.
> I bet the render time was loooooong...
My home machine stood alone rendering for about 3 days.
But I forgot to look for the statistics when I returned, so I
don't know the exact rendering time. :(

Yes, when you mention it; the "thing" in the middle reminds
me of a kind of tongue.
Thank you for commenting.

It's a pity that the long rendering time stops me from experimenting
much with lighting and colouring of the glass.
But if I find time (or I get a more powerful PC :) I'll try a more
asymmetric light set-up.
> And How about turning it upside down :-)
Right now I tried to flip the image vertically in an image editor and
I found that I like it that way too. =)

Yes; now I see that it could be a butterfly viewed from above... strange...

Maybe when I have learned more about colouring glass in POV-Ray.

Hmmm ... which one of them ? :)

I'm not sure but I think it took 2-3 days on my 100 MHz Pentium
(800x600 pixels). (I just left it on when I had to leave home for 3 days.)
> I see dark areas in the petals. Is it POV which stopped shooting rays or is it

The black areas are because of the relatively low max_trace_level number
First I thought that I should increase this number, but then I remembered that
some glass images I rendered earlier looked nicer with some dark areas.
So I didn't change it for this rendering.
I now think that it helps in making the glass stand out from the background.
But I have now also increased the max_trace_level number to 20 just
to see how it looks. (And in a couple of days I'll now.)
