This is an images inspired by a "pulp" SF/fantasy
story. The setting is a world orbiting a red giant star.
This scene is a city inside a crater of black rock.
The image is not really finished but I'm tired of
looking at it so here it is.
The red glowy things are supposed to be red foliage.
Radiosity makes them glow.

Pete

(I can tell jpeg didn't like this.)

Looks mechanical/utilitarian/whatever with all the right angles and red
against dark gray. Must be Pittsburgh... ;)

Yah! Normally my jpeg software will let me go down to 30%
and it will still look good. This time I had to crank it up to 90%!
Weird. I remember hearing/reading something about jpeg having problems
with red, especially bright red. I guess that explains why it was
so crudded up by jpeg.

        :-)
According to the original story, the city in the crater is
a bunch of step pyramids made of an unspecified "black metal". My
original thought was was to follow the colors/description of the story
as much as was possible, but all red and black does not make it look
like a nice place. :(
I guess I'll just have to break from the story and make it
white buildings with a sky blue sky.

I'll pretend I didn't hear that blasphemy ;)
