I will add a simple demonstration file to povray.binaries.scene-files, where the
several steps are shown.
As you can see, saving a mesh saves a lot of render time, but there is a
disatvantage too - sharp leaf texture changes can happen within one leaf.
Of course this trick can be useful for several kinds of slow textures applied to
