Further to the previous posting and to a discussion in p.n, here is what I
came up with. I have still not been able to answer my own question of how
to get the ripples or waves normal to repeat over space but the clocking
the phase at least gave something that resembles a translational movement.

I misunderstood what you wanted but in real life (?) cyclic animations are
always a fudge. Nice movement of the bird and nice model.
