I wanted to see my light grid test from different angles so I animated
the camera and made an avi out of it. I decided to post it.
It's encoded with the x264 codec (because of the quality/size ratio),
so if you can't see it I'm sorry.

Where can the codex be downloaded from?

I found some sites, but the file seems to be an .exe and I don't know which
sites can be trusted.

VLC player may be able to play it directly.

Otherwise, try the K-Lite codec pack. Make sure ffmpeg is installed.

You could also try installing ffmpeg separately.

If in linux, just use mplayer.

Simply use mplayer. It can open almost anything
