Using function-based heightfields, varying the resolution of the 
heightfield from 8x8 to 256x256 has some effect on the results.  The 
trees wiggle because their positioning and angle is based on the trace() 
results for that spot in the HF.  Some of them blink in and out because 
they are near the threshold for determining whether to parse them or not.

Of course, if the trace() checks were done on an HF which didn't have 
varying resolution, the trees would stand still.
