Hi folks,

this was made last friday, in about 3 hrs and took about 14 hrs to
render 70 frames.
The little plants are just clipped spheres, textured with a black and
white image map used with the pigment_pattern pattern in mpov06. the
black and white image map let me use the same image map on each clover
but with slightly different colour_maps.

is anyone able to view this? - i'm using an mpeg encoder that i've never
used before.

I can view it fine Ben (Media Player 6.4 I think)

It's really great. It looks like you used MegaPOV's post-process
depth-of-field rather than the standard DOF. Am I right? The DOF really
improves the anim. Well done.

well, to be honest, i did use pov's standard dof: hence the 14 hr render
time!!
looking back, i prolly should have given the post process a go.
i'll look into that one...
but yes, the dof does have quite an effect!

MPG worked fine for me.

Very pretty colors. Nice atmosphere to the
scene. Now... add a little wind!

Yeah, but ask yourself... why are you really

I use Windows Media Player version 7 and it will display the mpg file but
there's a blinking purple line across the bottom of the animation. It looks
like it's about 1-2 pixels high and goes all the way across the frame during
the entire animation.

yes! wind! i need to standardise the way i work so that i don't have to
re-code things like wind.
i've created wind effects for only afew things now and i always seem to
have to start again each new time.
i'd like to eventually build up a library of atmospheric effects, like
wind types, assorted things floating thru the air etc..
thanks.

Nice plants. Just clipped spheres? I like the colour scheme you used here.
The ground looks a bit flat at the end of the animation. Is it just a
textured plane? If so, may I suggest to use a heightfield for it?

save here, only noticed it when playing it full screen :)

could you continue the clovers on to the horizon? or patches of them.

Windows NT 4 and MS Media Player (6.4.05.0809).
I'm suffering from the purple line in 1x, 2x and full screen, but not in
0.5x magnification. Otherwise looks great.

Can I ask, are the clover all slightly different shades of green, or is it
the specular making them appear to change colour slightly as the image
rotates ?
