This is a result of a last minute change, the pattern keyword is 
replaced by function. I'll change it.

For now, here's the fix:

         height_field {
            function 500,500 {
               pigment{Landscape}
            }
            smooth
            translate -0.5
            scale <50,5,50>
            rotate <-30,0,0>
            translate <0,-3,55>
            pigment {rgb 1}
            finish {specular 0.1 roughness 2}
         }

Note: the portfolio in its current form may not render on Macs, as they 
need the name of the ini-file to be the same as the pov-file.
