looking back on the hickups on the appearing of the beta's of Pov 3.7, i
really get annoyed by the fact, that starts looking like i waisted a lot of
money on this gran 64x system+cooling+ graphicscard, etc. , i baught this
morning. now, uh what was the birthday of pov again. ive seen this before ,
like the trick with the dissappearing kering.

sheer processing power is never a waste of money. I'm sure your renders
will render a lot faster! :)
anyway, a graphicscard has nothing to do with povray: povray uses the CPU
power, only. Modern 3D-accelerated cards are geared towards fast
interactive 3D graphics and do not feature the kind of calculations povray
needs.
And, btw, if your CPU is not dual-core or multiprocessed in any way, povray
7 will run just as fast as povray 6 in your machine, afaik. Its magic just
shows in multicore CPUs...
