Realizing media and transparency is still in limbo for the moment I went
ahead and rendered the abyss.pov sample scene file anyhow.
Not surprising to see nothing showing of the 'media' water but it looked
interesting with only the submarine and mines suspended in total blackness,
so I rerendered after adding focal blur to try getting a better effect. That
*was* a surprise... seeing the blue water appear.
Wondering if this was already known, or if it might be something related to
the whole media+transparency thing yet involving the camera itself somehow.
Just FYI.

Noticed something else today after actually opening the resulting image.
PNG file is different from the render display window or BMP file output,
both of which look correct. For the png the nearest object to the camera (a
mine) has a pink color on the shadowed, or opposite, side of the main light
source. There are several lights, two of them using negative color values
(in light_groups with two mines) and two light_source's as shadowless, with
the main light being rgb 5. I should say I have changed some of those light
colors and media values but the scene is basically the same as the original.
I can't explain the reasoning for the png and bmp/display window differences
myself, since I'd expect to see other parts in the scene to do the same not
just one object. Unless, of course, it might have something to do with a
light_group or various interactions. I just thought it peculiar how the png
turned out differently and maybe someone might understand why.
If anything, like this changed scene file and rendered image, are needed to
be seen I'll happily post them to the beta binaries.
