It looks like the new 3.6 Beta produces slightly different image (when 
comparing pixel values) than 3.5 when using radiosity. Is this expected 
and intentional?

  AFAIK, yes.

  I think that a easy-to-read list of changes is in the works, so it will
probably include some info about this as well.
