I used Search->Replace "theclock" with "theClock". It appears that the
"replace with" text is always forced to lower-case. So "theclock" is
replaced with "theclock". :-( The "match case" checkbox seems to behave
correctly -- if checked it properly ignores instances of "Theclock", for
example. There's simply no way to use find & replace to use capitalization.

Try unchecking, rechecking, and finally unchecking Preserve Case. Seems mine
was stuck and I was about to confirm what you found, since I was pretty sure
it used to work okay. Capitals go in fine for me now. Using WinXP here.

That did it. Thank you. But what's the rationale for having preserve case
enabled by default? I can see its use for editing Shakespearean lines of
prose, or writing Turkish poetry. But in a case-sensitive computer
language?
