Crossing my fingers that RC4's longevity is because this may be the final
candidate... Good luck POV-Ray team!

Eight days? That is only one day longer. I think as it
approaches the finish the releases will be shorter, so
they can quick check minor fixes.

I had to get off the treadmill, so now I don't raytrace anymore.

If and when the team does another beta cycle I would strongly suggest that
you give each release a six month lifespan. You can still generate a new
beta every week and you can demand that bugs be reproducible in the current
version, but actually causing each version to expire in a week adds
unnecessary headaches for everyone.

Now you know my opinion :-)

Well, I'll be happy and grateful if there is another version
with a beta cycle. I think a day or two grace period
of continued operation to give testers time to retrieve
the newest release would be a good idea. I my case
I continue to update at the office 'cuz I have a T1
line there, but at home- ugh, it can take an hour sometimes
to get the file. So if I really want to trace at home I burn
it to a CD and take it home.

As has been pointed out, there is a work-around for keeping your
betas going after the deadline.

Set your system clock back. Start POV-Ray. Set system clock forward.
