The doc section 6.8.2 does not tell which method is the default one. BTW,
which one is it?

The original 3.1 had what is now known as method 1. I would presume,
with a fair amount of certainty, that method 1 is the default for
backward compatibility sake.

Wasn't it changed to 3?

Which reminds me, it's often difficult to locate default values in the docs.
For some future version, it would be nice to have a brief summary of applicable
defaults after the syntax statement. I don't know how many times I've searched
through the camera section looking for the defaults for look_at and location.
Ok, I know them now, but I would have saved some frustration if they'd been easy
to find :-)

Sure thought so, reading the Media section of the Doc does kind of suggest
it is still method 1 since it's the leading paragraph for method types. In
renders I've done it appears to be 3 and not 1. Wish I could remember that
with more certainty.

The default is method 3. And the reason clear: 99.9% of people will be
using method 3 anyways, so why make their lives any harder by forcing them
to type it every time?

If #version 3.1 is used, will it default to method 1?
