When the Index tab is displayed in the left panel of Help, the search
field is labeled with the prompt "Type in the keyword to find:". The
'w' is underlined, which generally means that Alt-W will select the
input field.

However, when I type Alt-W from within Help, it closes POV-Ray, leaving
the Help file active. I'm curently running beta 4, though I noticed it
in beta 2 as well.

Actually, I'm wrong -- it doesn't close POV-Ray, it puts it into the
system tray.

This is a bug in HTML Help. When I give it a preview of the key, it indicates that it
doesn't want it, so it is then passed on to POVWIN (all keystrokes sent to the help
window, when it is started from POVWIN, go through the POVWIN message loop first,
which
is why I have to send it a preview of the keys).

There's not much I can do about it, other than hard-code an exception into the
program,
which I really don't want to do.

Thanks for mentioning this anyhow.
