Is it possible to make the installation not write over existing ini files, I
just installed beta 2 and all the ini files I had setup up got overwritten
(only povray.ini was backed up though)

How could the installer possibly know which are old files and which are ones
you changed?

There is the option to back up files which are overwritten. I selected this
option but, while povray.ini was backed up, pvengine.ini, pvtools.ini and
quickres.ini weren't. I usually backed them up manually before I installed
a new version, but this time I didn't, but expected that the installation
would back them up as it indicates it will.

As for the installer knowing, other programs don't seem to have a problem
with it, whenever I install a new version of Eudora, my ini files are
maintained as they were unless they don't exist, in which case the default
one is installed.
