POV beta 9

-In section 2.6.2 the second paragraph says: "Photon mapping is a technique
which uses a backwards ray-tracing pre-processing step to render refractive
and reflective caustics realistically..." but in my opinion the photon
mapping tecnique can be considered a forward ray-tracing pre-processing step
not backwards.
Could Nathan Kopp confirm this?

-The triangle texture and variable reflection are listed both in section
2.6.12 and 2.6.8

- The media speed enhancements are listed both in section 2.6.13 and 2.6.9

I think this depends on your definition. It's backwards in relation to
conventional raytracing and forward in relation to the real physical
effects. I'm not sure which definition is the more common one.

AFAIK Henrik Wann Jensen's papers and books do not commonly use either of
these terms, but Nathan regularly used 'backwards ray tracing' in his
texts so it's at least consistent this way.

Sounds like a mistake. Ingo...?

I'm not sure if they both cover the same change, .9 refers to the new
methods while .13 could mean some general optimization.

I'll remove them from 2.6.12

Changing the first line of 2.6.13 to:
"light speed enhancement" looks a bit strange :)

I'll see what can be done.

Ingo
