Just tried this, MacBook running 10.4.11, it exits immediately on startup.
MegaPOV 1.2.1 runs fine (that's my regular POV version)... does the binary
expect to live anywhere specific?

for documentation purposes ... you won't happen to know what the default
value for Work_Threads (+wt) is would you? Windows is number of detected
cores, and linux/unix is 2 ... for completeness I was hoping to add that
information for our Mac friends :-)

cheers

The information you have about Linux is outdated; on Linux systems, +WT
defaults to the number of "online processors" if known and >1, otherwise
the number of "configured processors" if known and >1, otherwise 4.

Given that POV-Ray 3.7 for Mac is based on the Linux version, I'd
presume that it uses the same defaults.

... ah, and not to forget that both Linux and Windows versions cap their
+WT defaults to 512.

No, you can unzip the archive anywhere and run the application.
Just to be sure, you downloaded the 32 bit version?
The 64 bit version will not run on Mac OS 10.4.
You need this archive:
http://megapov.inetart.net/beta/pv37_b37.zip
If this is what you use and it doesn't work, please contact me direct
via e-mail so that I can try to fix it.

This can be set via the menu "PovRay 3.7 Unofficial" >> "Preferences" >>
"Misc panel".
The default is set to "Automatic" and then the number of physical cores
is used.
It is also possible to set any value from 1 to 6 and n-1 or n+1.
Automatic is in most cases the best.

But keep in mind that this is an unofficial version just until an
official version will be out!

You are looking at beta 37 but now you have to get beta 37a.
Look at this message for it:
http://news.povray.org/povray.beta-test/thread/%3C1jke34d.bnuxoz19nl1naN
%25yvo.s%40cancel_This_gmx.net%3E/

Older versions are always removed.
