Noticed messages about isosurfaces in Beta 7 being slower than previously.
I haven't had much time for this stuff but I managed to get this set of
renders done, using the image maps I got through
http://apollo.spaceports.com/~jhasting/planets.html

Main reason for my posting this here is to point out the way a media sphere
over an isosurface sphere causes concentric circles aligned with the camera
location-look_at axis. No doubt a increase in either media samples or iso
settings needed but as is this took over 12 hours to do. When I have the
time I hope to find which setup works best.
What seems changed in this Beta 7 (not sure about previous few) is that the
default (no accuracy or max_gradient stated) setup of a spherical isosurface
doesn't have the concentric circles on the iso itself now, whereas before I
couldn't seem to get rid of it. But like I say, I haven't been able to go
checking into it enough. I did try max_trace and all_intersections at one
point. It's just interesting how the iso affects a surrounding sphere of
media like this shows (Earth is only obvious one).

Sure would be great if the combination of these two features, iso's and
media's, could be sped up :-)

Both things were vertically exaggerated, and the atmospheres could use some
changes. The edges are overly bright and patterns aren't much good yet.
Oh, I better say what's what in this: starting top left is Mercury, Venus,
Earth; bottom left, Mars, Pluto, Moon. You probably could figure most of
that anyway.
